Such a common way of seeing desire. As something to be resisted and controlled. But I think what gets missed is that the only way of controlling a desire is with another counter-desire. When we appear in control of our desires, it’s because we have desires balancing each other. Our ‘rational’ self is just another desire - a desire for order. Reality is a battle of desires, not just between humans either.
