Kidult culture sees knowledge and enjoyment as opposites. Not surprising because kidults equate knowledge with school, and fun with not being at school. All thinking is ’overthinking’, for a kidult. ‘Just Do It’, ‘live your best life’, etc. The genius of Spinoza was to say that knowledge is not ‘about’ the world. It’s the way who you are and reality meet and increase your power to act (conatus), in the world. And that brings joy. The only true joy. All happinesses and joys not based on actual knowledge leave you feeling like something is still missing from your life. We’re not more or less happy. We’re more or less ignorant.
