(Kris is a climate scientist.) It’s summer now in Greenland. The average temperature in summer in Greenland is about 7 degrees C. Right now it’s 15 degrees C. The enormous quantity of ice in Greenland was already melting at record speed. Rain will accelerate that melting hugely. If all of the ice in Greenland were to melt and flow into the oceans, sea levels would rise by 7 metres. That’s all our coastal cities underwater, about 85% of Australia’s entire population.
