To me the most extraordinary things in the world are always the most ordinary things. Take pipe. Our entire civilisation would collapse without it. Know that puzzle - what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object? Pipes happen. A pipe is pure genius, it allows things to move (unstoppable force) while being constrained at the same time (immovable object). A simple pipe is mostly empty space - it's empty space with direction. A way to extend a hole indefinitely. Just mindblowing really.
