There seem to be credible hints that Tesla will release Powershare for Juniper models, in homes that also have a Powerwall, some time this year. Apparently the needed power electronics are already onboard. It looks like Highland Model 3s will be limited to V2L, not V2H. V2H is best used for emergency backup, rather than daily home usage, which is one reason Tesla are linking it to pre-existing Powerwall ownership I think. Plus of course it helps protect their Powerwall product line, but to me it’s also a mistake to confuse Powershare with your car becoming a regular home battery, which technically isn’t a great idea. There’s often frustration that Tesla announce things well in advance of them actually appearing, but I think there’s a good reason for that. It tells people what to expect (it would have been better for example if they’d done that with the PW2/PW3 integration, to help people with planning there). Then it allows their engineers time to really nail the implementation, rather than rush it. They’re like Apple, and Musk apparently liked Steve Jobs’ approach. When once asked why Apple was slow to market with new initiatives, an Apple executive said that it’s easy to make things, it’s much harder to make them well i.e. seamless. Tesla are like Apple in that way, their products tend to work seamlessly, relatively more than competitors. And they target an ecosystem approach, of interoperability between their different products. That’s hard to do, in engineering, thus the frequent delays.
