Here’s another reframing. A ‘world in crisis’ is just our usual channels, of TV and film and now social media, feeding back to us the complexity of the world we’d ignored before. ‘No politics please!’ is the voice of privilege, we had decades of pretending life was simple and easy and comfortable. That comfort was due to our power, and now it’s unravelling. We watched the world for a long time, on TV, from the comfort of our lounge rooms. Now the world is coming to us, and the more it does, the more scary the stories get on our screens.
