Always loved the show. But looking back at it, something really stands out. There’s not one child in this entire show. The ’good life’ had no place for children. Neither couple had children or even mentioned them. Both couples totally obsessed with their respective lifestyles. This is the cultural equivalent of looking at astronomical nebulae, to see the birth of a new galaxy. This was the birthing of a new culture. Mid-1970s, when the post-war generation were taking over adult life, replacing life with lifestyles. We’re living in the ruins.
