I wonder if it’s common to think that modern medicine means we’re healthier today than ever? Looking at heart disease, including stroke, can be an eye-opener. This is data for the US. At the turn of the 20th century, heart disease was incredibly rare. Then look at what happened. We’ve all lived the explanations - too much fat, too much salt, mostly. We ate a lot more fat and salt in 1900 than we do now. My guess? As in my previous posts, heart disease is an infectious disease, caused by microbes. Research on microbes tended to lose funding after Pencillin was invented, in the 1930s.
