You can see on this map how many oceans there are in the world. One. It’s all the same water. This reminded me again of something we often get backwards, we put a boundary around something to give it a name, and try to manage it. Like countries, or oceans, or people. But then we do something bizarre - to try to get back to the connected wholeness we started with, we ‘add up’ all the little separated bits we’ve made and named. We try to make the ‘international’ community the sum of all countries, for example. Or we say the public or economy are the adding up of lots of separate individuals. They’re not separate, they never were.
