24 April

Lest we forget what we forget, every year. 'Lest We Forget' isn't to remember those who 'sacrificed' themselves for our freedom. It's to remember that we sacrificed them, and should never do it again. It's about us, more than them. Kipling's Recessional, the poem the phrase comes from, about the evils of jingoism. Remembrance Day is when we remember the young lives lost, 'Lest We Forget' is when we remember never to do it again.
