What’s happening in America and our interpretation of it, as ‘authoritarian’ takeovers, sometimes by ‘Nazis’, shows just how much adult life is teenagers living inside fantasies, mostly derived from Hollywood films. Aristotle knew what’s wrong with America. Its middle class is weak. Without it, you get tyrannies, of either the rich (monarchies, oligarchs) or poor (populist heroes, like Trump). The middle class runs democracies. They staff its institutions. Democracy is those institutions, not ‘the people’.
