Being in the middle of the flood activity, I can tell you who’s fixing it. Engineers. I can tell you who isn’t - politicians. We have this bizarre idea that politicians ‘run’ towns, States and countries. They don’t, they never have. Their job is to be a public face of the necessary action. An important job. But in recent years they’ve actually decided that they run things. That’s why we get an increasing number of natural disasters. Like climate change flooding, an energy grid that’s broken, and a pandemic that we’re not even fighting. We need to get rid of elections, so we can stop this ludicrous fantasy that politicians run things. They’re clueless, they don’t have a single idea what to do. I noticed this working at CSU, because it happens in organisations too. Leaders suddenly bypass actual expertise and launch crazy fantasies of their own making. It’s why CSU went into a nosedive.
