Continuing on stories. People hate politics, but actually it all makes a lot more sense if it’s looked at as stories. The two main sides of politics, around the world, each have their own story. Roughly, these: Story 1 - Conservatives (LNP in Australia). Individuals are the heart of society. Institutions like government (and their taxes, and ‘nanny state’ ideas) get in the way of individuals. The ‘economy’ is really just all of these individuals, and we will be richer if we can take as much weight (taxes, regulations) off individuals as possible. Story 2 - Progressives (Labor in Australia). Individuals live in communities, and communities provide the foundation for individuals to prosper. Government and regulation are the necessary checks and balances on individuals, to make sure everybody gets a fair go, and also build frameworks for individuals to work within. There are also smaller stories, that minor parties tell.
