A variation on people not following speed limits, is people speeding up when overtaking lanes start, to stop people passing them. Just incredibly stupid and annoying behaviour. And HUGE numbers of people do it, despite the huge numbers also saying they find it annoying, which suggests to me a pandemic of lack of self-awareness. It's some sort of pathetic ego thing, that you can't let anybody overtake you. A woman in a Mercedes this morning did this to me. I was overtaking her, with cruise control on (so she was below the speed limit), and then suddenly she swerved in front of me to prevent me overtaking her, which is even worse than the people who just speed up. I shifted to the left lane to continue overtaking her, and she sped up and blasted the horn. Roads and cars are the stupidest places in our socieites.
