A perfect description of how everything wrong with politics right now is a problem with US, me and you, not politicians. Turnbull is holding together a fragile coalition in the face of enormous pressure, against a huge array of single-issue grievances in the community, whether it's climate change or same-sex marriage, or whatever. He's not weak, it takes great strength to compromise. Instead what do we want, as a community? 'Strong' leadership, people who simplify things and promise simplistic, muscular solutions. Abbott is seen as an achiever because he 'did what he said'. And what was that? He said no, to things. And that's all he did, smashed things. Any idiot can do that, and it's how shock jocks get rich - professional whingers. And now Hanson and Hinch, more simpletons with single issues and simplistic anger-driven solutions. We get the politicians we deserve, we really do. We need to look in the mirror, and learn to love compromise, instead of want all of our individual grievances sorted for us, and stuff everybody else.
