It was a real surprise to me that fear is the reason many people either don’t post to social media, or post only about themselves. Then it clicked - people tend to use social media to create a social identity. That fear is often the fear of creating an unpopular identity. Paradoxically, many people post mostly about themselves because of this fear - they’re viewing social media as an ad about themselves.
