FB is such a bizarre place. From it I know a lot about what my friends are doing. But I know almost nothing about what they’re thinking or feeling, about anything. I know a lot about what people are doing in their lives, but almost nothing about why. Nothing about what they think about the challenges in their life, facing themselves and society more generally. It’s like a novel or TV show where the characters are introduced, and then everything else is just a description of what they do every day. Not even any dialogue, the actors have no lines. I’m often told by people that they fear revealing their thoughts to others. Is that really true?
