I think one of the truly stupid things about ‘border security’, which is all the rage across the world, is that people say ‘our border’. It’s not our border, anybody who owns a backyard fence knows that any border is an agreement between you and your neighbours. It’s their border too, there’s no such thing as a one-way border. The only way to ‘protect our borders’ is to have agreements with our neighbours.
