Many have said over the years that what I post to FB looks negative, or not much 'fun'. It's important to me to clarify that. Spinoza is a hero of mine. The only real purpose of adult life is understanding. And that's also the only path to joy. The happy and fun times that dominate FB aren't joy, people can be abjectly miserable underneath all that curated fake positivity. My passion and what gives me joy is understanding things. The curated positivity of FB and other social media is fake happiness. And a million miles from actual joy. Many who curate the stuff are miserable, slaves to a social comparison process that makes them ever-more anxious. I know a lot of the people who look they're living 'fun' and happy lives on FB. Their lives are often in the toilet. The curated toxic positivity is a deflection from that, it allows them to avoid confronting that truth.
