Range is a concept that makes sense for petrol and diesel vehicles, they were designed to have longer range not just for longer trips, but because we didn't want people having to go to the service station every day. Service stations cost billions to build and maintain, and then decommission. There are only 7000 service stations in Australia, for 20 million vehicles. And most people travel less than 40km per day. For an EV, you don't even need a service station. You can charge every day, at home. It's a top-up rather than a fill-up model. For longer trips, there will be EV charging stations, but what many don't know is that there are nearly half as many of those already in Australia as we have petrol stations. Over 3000. And unlike petrol stations, most people won't need them, for everyday driving. So we'll need a lot less of them.
