Excess mortality is the number of deaths above the usual average in a given year. For the first two years of the pandemic, ours actually went negative i.e. we were healthier than we’d ever been. Now it’s 15% higher than average. Dan (immunologist working for NSW Health) explains just how bad that is. We’re in la-la land, and schools are about to go back to drive more waves of infection into the community.
