If you wanted electrical work done, you’d ask an electrician. But experts in areas like science, governance, and public administration are told their views are just ‘opinions’ like anybody else’s. This contempt for every expertise that isn’t a trade, is populism. We use education for status mostly, we have no real interest in ideas. A huge tidal wave of ignorant yobdom is too arrogant and stupid to acknowledge that it’s not just tradies who know what they’re doing.
