Mercury was bored of gigging before he was even 40. Rock and roll culture is teen culture, he knew it and said it. We miss that insight in him in the rock stars now left, most of whom have only a fraction of the talent or intelligence. I love the new Spinal Tap movie sub-title: “The End Continues”. Those guys get it. Most rock fans who laugh at Spinal Tap don’t understand that they’re the joke.
