Nick's law of applying for jobs. Nearly every job ad you look at for a new position will tell you some shit work that a manager doesn't want to do, and has managed to find budget to employ somebody else to do. In the process it will also tell you where an organisation is falling apart, probably terminally. Hiring a new box on the org chart is always an expensive last resort.
