I’m curious if the main theme of Bohemian Rhapsody (the movie), which Rami Malek talks about here, is well understood? That Freddie Mercury was a persona, not a person. An incredibly shy outsider, connecting with other outsiders, using this persona as the tool. One of the ironies of the critical response to the film is that the film does exactly the same thing. It’s an outsider, taking on the film establishment. It’s interesting to me how common the assumption is that anything that connects with millions can’t be as good or serious as something that connects with only a handful. What does ‘good’ mean?
