Artists often have amazing homes, it's part of their work. Steve Alderton captured Margaret Olley's in this shot. None of the tedious 'luxury' of modern homes that makes them look more like hotels (because, as compulsive travellers, that's our experience). Artists know that the whole universe can be found in a house, whereas our travelling culture thinks real magic is always somewhere else than where we are now. Home is sacred and infinite, it's not a refuge from life or the world. The places we travel to know that, that's why they're beautiful places. We're parasites on them.
