Grumpy old men are famous for criticising everything that’s new and young. I criticise the old for being a lead weight around the young’s shoulders, for blocking innovation and change that’s desperately needed. For refusing to grow up and therefore denying the young a place in the world. (P.S. in real life I’m not grumpy at all. I may seem it here because social media is a bog of curated fake toxic positivity. All of life makes me happy, the complexity and challenges, not just ‘happy’ times.)
