You can see the origins of Big Pharma in this pandemic I think. In the absence of basic, cheap public health systems, the US is always after the latest wonder drug, the latest snake oil to get them out of the hole that broken public institutions left them in. Just as big defence and big IT papers over the same cracks in other areas. Their mega corporates express their absence of a functioning public sphere, they monetise that void.
