Wisdom of the crowd. It's an actual, studied thing. In the right circumstances, a crowd is smarter than anybody in it. It's not what we usually call 'democracy'. In this case, the overwhelming crowd favourite is also sound public health. The 'open up' people are a tiny minority. The crowd drove both the State responses, and now the federal response. They took control, when our pollies and business leaders refused to. They're already being called names by the business leaders in response, 'Fortress Australia', like they're a bit simple and a real adult would open up and embrace more risk. The crowd is giving them the big middle finger.
