Learning to ride a bike is one of those early balance skills, like standing, walking and running. Somewhere in the transition between those early years and adolescence, humans do something weird. They stop balancing, they start to think they have to hold themselves up, and push and pull to move. They're 'held', and to move they push and pull against this holding. Part of it is being taught gravity is pulling them down. Which it isn't, they're on the ground, the ground is supporting them. They just have to balance over this support.
