This is a test of how much people really understand politics. Turnbull doesn't believe in any of those things, but he has two main opponents. One is the Labor Party. The other is a powerful group of zealots and extremists within his own party. The ones that brought him undone last time he was leader. The whole world needs to fight extremists and zealots, wherever they are. They're a hugely vocal irrelevant minority to most of our lives, they should be shipped off somewhere. Ditto for the US and the UK.
:)
I can't think of a more important thing for people to read. Most boomers are lovely people. It's irrelevant. Young people are in crisis.
Don't actually expect people to buy this, academic publishers charge too much. But I enjoyed co-writing it - it's about why you can't tell if schools or universities are actually teaching you or your kids anything or not. And what to do about it. And what the role of technology in education really should be.
Yep. They don't. But they can.
You gotta wonder how long the idiot idea of subsidising private insurance with public money can last. It's not even working.
Super plums. Let's see.
Kiribati straddles both the international date line, and all 4 hemispheres. Meaning it can be two seasons and different days, at the same time. And it's disappearing under water with sea level rise.
Multiple choice question. This is taken in: A. Bathurst B. Orange C. Lithgow
They teach you this in Goulburn Bob Marksy?
Fantastic place to eat, highly recommend it.
Boomers often proudly say that they're not leaving a cent behind when they go. And their kids often agree this is a good thing. It really is time to question just how moral that mindset is.
People give you a bit of a blank look when you say you trained as a materials engineer. Materials engineering is the cutting edge of all engineering.
A cruise is obviously what you make of it.
Comic genius, loved this as a kid. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KTc3PsW5ghQ
Happy birthday Wayne! We're close to 50
There's always some new miracle right under our noses
This may move people. Its basic message, that teachers should treat children as human beings, and have high expectations of them, is impossible to fault. The problem is, that applies no matter what work you do. This is the sort of emotional, heartwarming thing that stops education really understanding what it isn't doing. You can have a terrific relationship with kids and not have a clue how to teach them a thing. (I could plug the book here again. Coming out on the 18th.)
Happy birthday :) catch up soon.
Yep. And one of the greatest things you can do for kids is leave them alone - not fussing around them, not trying to engineer their lives in certain ways. And tell them to go away if they're too clingy.
Twins, what a freak show ;) It's more interesting that the children of identical twins are actually biological sisters and brothers, not cousins.
Get off the coast you lemmings and try Australia's vast inland.
Architect Christopher Alexander once described rural England as humankind's greatest ever creation.
Happy Birthday!
If only Eddie could still make it sound as good as he makes it look.
Happy birthday!
Happy birthday, hope you get spoiled :)
Heh, "The whole philosophy is highly influential where we live, and perhaps as a result, our local parks are full of exhausted-looking women shackled to two-stone toddlers, and nobody has slept in months." It's nice to see somebody recognising the exhausting absolutism of our time. It's happening in parenting, politics, emotions, drinking, standing ovations, busyness...Everything.
Octavio Paz. Apparently described communism as the wrong answer, but the right question. Knowing the right questions is probably much more important than knowing the answers to them.
Oh, and happy birthday!
Jack is looking at Anne, but Anne is looking at George. Jack is married, but George is not. Is a married person looking at an unmarried person? A: Yes B: No C: Cannot be determined
Happy birthday! Are you and Kell 30 yet? You never age.
You know I reckon this might be true. It's definitely the reason shock jocks get rich.
