Another warning about wood fires. And maybe it's time we stopped hazard reduction burns that blanket whole regions in smoke, like yesterday. Might save a few houses when there are bush fires, but in the process entire towns breathe in bucketloads of ultra fines - a way bigger hazard.

Always prefer diaries from the soldiers themselves to the patriotic tripe written about them. The patriotism is why we keep sending young people to their death, in pointless wars like Iraq and Afghanistan. Every one of them is somebody's child, I think that's what I don't forget on days like today.
